Roleplaying Rules



1. GOD-MODING


Don't do it. It's simple; on this board we will not tolerate those that intentionally control other peoples characters without permission thus disrupting the RP and upsetting other players. Certain RP's may require controlled God-Moding (for fights etc, admin controlled gods as well...) but this needs to be done with communication between the RPers involved. Any instances of blatant God-Moding after a first warning from a staff member will result with immediate banning.



2. REGARDING ALTERNATE/CHARACTER ACCOUNTS.


  • All players must have separate accounts for each character that they make. Having said this, it is mandatory that you list all your characters in the "Character List" thread under the "About Diminished Fates" board.

  • You must have a primary, main character accepted before you make another one. Also, you must wait three days before creating another character after you've made your first one.

  • You may have up to seven different accounts for seven different characters. If we find out that you are in possession of more accounts than accepted, you will be penalized with a warning. Failure to comply will result in a temporary ban.


3. RP ETIQUETTE

Experienced RPers need to remember that not everyone that posts here is going to be experienced and thus know the etiquette of RPing so patience is needed; if you have any problems, contact an admin.

We do not want any grammar Nazi's please. If you do not like someone's style of RPing then don't RP with them. It is as simple as that. do not want petty and snide remarks regarding someone's posting. Elitism is one of my pet peeves on the internet. There are plenty of high quality writers at the Diminished Fates RP, as well as those learning their trade, I want everyone to respect one another and get along please.


4. CONCERNING PLOTS AND RPING IN GENERAL

  • Free flowing is a skill, and to create an interesting story an ((OOC)) at the beginning or end of the post can be helpful to you and other RPers. Just don't go silly with you OOC comments and write paragraphs in post please. A line or two should be sufficient. ;)

  • It doesn't matter how short or long the post is, just try and make it relevant to the storyline. There is no minimum or maximum word count, however, NO ONE LINERS. Any instances where less than 20 words of RPing is spotted, a three percent warning will be given. As you violate this rules more and more, a higher penalty will be given.

  • Please indicate whether or not your thread is open or closed by using the "(open), (invite only), (Pm for invite), (closed), (plot), or (finished)" tags in your post topic.

THE GENERAL RULES OF DIMINISHED FATES



Every board has to have rules, and as this is an RP board there are RP rules as well as general board rules.


RULE NUMBER 1: No trolling, flaming, persistent rule breaking


You will be BANNED if you do any of the following-

  • Post in a inflammatory way in any forum. This is not a flame board and the OOC board is just that, somewhere to hang out with no nonsense, somewhere to relax, not argue.
  • Persistent Trolling: Depending on the seriousness of the trolling the offending member may be temporarily or permanently banned. - Sarcasm, wit and 'joshin' in a friendly, non personal manner is not considered flaming. We should not have to define flaming, trolling and sarcastic wit, and you cannot make us. I don't really like banning people, but I will if there is a breach of any of these general rules or RP rules. Troll posts and topics will be deleted.
  • Persist in using an illegal, controversial, or offensive sig or avatar.



RULE NUMBER 2: No Spamming


Although going off topic is not essentially against the rules (as it is so easily done by anyone and everyone and can be fun) any member of staff who deems a topic or post not appropriate for their forum are entitled to move or delete where needed. The same goes for any reported posts or topics.

Advertisement posts anywhere other then Affiliating/Advertisements (which can be found at the bottom of the board) will be deleted immediately. Persistent spammers/advertisers will be banned, totally.

No PM advertising please. The affiliates and advertising boards are just for that.

Persistence in derailing topics and upsetting others members by those deemed as trolls will be dealt with by mods and admins, and in the very worst of cases, the owner.


RULE NUMBER 3: No offensive images


The use of images in sigs, avi's and posts is pretty relaxed around here, but I do have some basic guidelines, some more rigid then others.

  • We ask that you be sensible with your sig content. Persist in using an illegal, controversial, or offensive sig or avatar and you WILL be banned.
  • Also, try to keep the images fairly decent. I don't want any pron images in avi's or sigs please and I don't want these kinds of images in posts either. I'm no prude, but this is not the board for that kind of thing.



RULE NUMBER 4: Respect the Staff, respect each other, and respect new members

I will not tolerate rude people. There is absolutely NO reason to be rude on the internet. I want to promote a friendly atmosphere so any member who is persistently rude will be permanently banned. I refuse to let OOC board drama fester here.

All my staff are my friends and are doing me a favor by staffing here. The Admins here are very relaxed, and less emotional then me. It is very hard to piss them off, but they have the power to ban without asking me about it, and I trust their judgment. So don't come crying to me if any of them have banned your ass, because I won't be listening.




If you have any complaints, contact me or any of my staff members. They should be willing to help you at any point when they're online. You may also post more lenient complaints in the "About Diminished Fates" board.
